Below are the complete crochet pattern, instructional photos, and a video tutorial for the crochet Suzette stitch.

Over the years I have used the crochet Suzette stitch for many of my crochet patterns. Check out some of those crochet patterns below. Just click the photo to be taken to the pattern!
I also used the pattern stitch for the hat of the Pineapple Gnome, for the Half Bath Mitt, and an Apple Cup Cozy.

For the crochet Suzette stitch, you will need to know how to make a chain, single crochet, double crochet, skip stitches, and work a repeated stitch pattern to create the texture.
Stitches + Abbreviations
CH – Chain
SC – Single Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
ST(s) – Stitch(es)
Stitch Repeat
To work this crochet stitch you will start by making a chain of any even number of chains. When you complete Row 1, you will have an odd number of stitches. If you are starting with a foundation row, work any even number of foundation stitches.
When working in the round you will want to make sure your first round has an odd number of stitches and that you turn at the end of the row to get the textured pictured on this post.
If you choose not to turn at the end of the row, then you will want to have an even number of stitches at the end of the first round and you will have a texture that looks like this bath mitt or the hat of the pineapple gnome.
pattern notes
- The pattern is written using American crochet terms.
- The turning chain does not count as a stitch.
- The crochet suzette stitch pattern below is worked in rows.
- I like to begin stitch samples with a single crochet row, but row 1 can be skipped and you can begin directly with the stitch pattern on row 2.
