Textured Ear Warmers to keep those little Ears warm!
The weather is turning cold and the kids are getting bigger. That means it is time to make them some new winter accessories. Their ear warmers are perfect for keeping their ears warm under their hoods.
These ear warmers work up so fast that you can gift them to friends, family, and co-workers. Everyone will thank you when a chilly wind blows.
Sizing and Yarn Substitution
In the photos, you will see a 4 yr old, 8 yr old, and an adult. We are all wearing adult size ear warmers. I still provide sizing below for your convenience, but if you are not sure what size to make, the adult size seems to work for most.
Feel free to raid your yarn stash for this crochet ear warmer. It only takes a few ounces of yarn and any #4 weight yarn will work for this project. I really like the Red Heart With Love because of the color selection and the feel.
The Premium Ad-Free PDF Pattern
Below you will find the free pattern with all the instructional photos and videos needed to complete the pattern, but I am also aware that several of us like to crochet on the couch, in the car, or in bed with a printout of the pattern. This is why I also offer a nicely formatted large font PDF version of the pattern that can be purchased on Etsy or Ravelry. You can print the pattern and take it on the go with you or tuck it into your project bag.

– I do not count my CH1, turning chain, as a stitch.
– The only difference in size is the length of the ear warmer.
– There are 4 ways to finish the ear warmer to create 4 different styles.

Finishing the Ear Warmer 4 Ways
Option 1: Basic Ear Warmer
Step 1. Lay the ear warmer base on a flat surface.
Step 2. Bring the two ends of the ear warmer together.
Step 3. Use a whip stitch to sew the ends together.
Step 4. Weave in your ends.
Option 2: Simple Twisted Ear Warmer
Step 1. Lay the ear warmer base on a flat surface.
Step 2. Take one end and flip it over to create a twist.
Step 3. Bring the two ends of the ear warmer together.
Step 4. Use a whip stitch to sew the ends together.
Step 5. Weave in your ends.
Option 3: Cinched Ear Warmer
Step 1. Lay the ear warmer base on a flat surface.
Step 2. Bring the two ends of the ear warmer together.
Step 3. Use a whip stitch to sew the ends together.
Step 4. Cinch your seam down and use a long strand of yarn to wrap tightly around the cinched section several times. Knot the yarn ends together to secure.
Step 5. Weave in your ends.
Option 4: Advanced Twisted Ear Warmer
Below I have 2 sets of photo instructions for how to fold and join your pieces together. One set is the plain photos and the other set uses a pink and blue line to indicate the two ends of the ear warmer.
Step 1: Place your two ends together so they are halfway overlapping with your left side end under your right side end.
Step 2: Fold the other half of your left side end over the folded section of your right side end.
Step 3: Fold your right side end over the left side so that you have 4 layers of crochet on top of each other.
Step 4: Use your long yarn end and a needle to sew a row of stitches that goes through all 4 layers. Try to sew just catching the top of each stitch to prevent the twisted section from getting bulky.
Step 5: Weave in your ends and turn your ear warmer inside out and your ear warmer will be done!
Now your Crochet Textured Ear Warmer is complete and ready to be enjoyed. They work up fast and make a great gift.
