If this is your first time hearing about this crochet course, then consider checking out the Prep Lesson to learn about the course and materials needed or jump to Lesson 1 to start learning Tunisian Crochet.

In January 2021 we are treating this course like a Crochet along. It is always fun to learn new things alongside others. To participate in the crochet along, just join the Our Crochet Journey Facebook group to be able to share photos of your work.

The Tunisian Full Stitch – Tfs

The Tunisian Full stitch has a beautiful woven like appearance. So far we have worked into the front and back vertical bars in different ways to make different stitches. For the Tunisian Full Stitch, we will insert our hook in between sets of verticle bars to pull up a loop from the back of our work.

The Tunisian Full stitch is also the first stitch that we have learned that has a two-row repeat.

Repeat Row 1:

For row 1 we will start by pulling up a loop in the space between the first and second set of vertical bars. Then we will pull up a loop in every space between the vertical bars except the last space. Work your Last Tunisian crochet stitch, as usual, working under both vertical bars.

The Pink dots are indicating where to pull up stitches.

Work a normal return pass of chain 1, *Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on your hook* repeat from *to* until you have only 1 loop left on your hook. Continue to repeat row 2.

Repeat Row 2:

For row 2, we will skip the first space, and begin pulling up loops in the space between the second and third set of vertical bars. Pull up a loop in all other spaces in the row including the last space. Work your Last Tunisian crochet stitch as usual, working under both vertical bars.

To continue working this stitch you will alternate working Repeat row 1 and repeat row 2. The two rows help balance each other out and keep your project square.

Watch the video tutorial below to see how the stitches are pulled up between the vertical bars.

Tunisian Full Stitch Homework

To practice the Tunisian Full Stitch, start with a foundation chain of 15, work a normal foundation row. Then work 5-10 rows of the Tunisian Full Stitch.

I confess, the full stitch was the hardest stitch for me to get right. It is easy to lose track of which row you are on and accidentally start increasing stitches.

Keep an eye on the tension on your first and last stitch. Use the tips from Lesson 2 to help adjust their tension. You will probably notice a lot of curl with the Tunisian Full Stitch. This is completely normal.

After severals rows, bind off with a slip stitch or single crochet bind off.
