The Spooky Corner to Corner Crochet Banner is a great project for anyone who loves to decorate for the holidays. Corner to corner projects are a lot of fun and this smaller corner to corner crochet banner has all the fun of C2C without being a huge project. This project only takes three colors, so less yarn to tangle and is perfect for the Halloween season.

My Inspiration
Why the word ‘Spooky’, well last year when my son was three years old his word for Halloween was ‘Spooky Pumpkin’. He did not really understand the holiday but he knew he saw tons of spooky pumpkins in all the stories. He also learned to decipher between spooky things and scary things. We like spooky!
At the end of the Halloween season last year I saw a super adorable sign that said Spooky, but I did not buy it. This year we are teaching my son his ABC’s and the word Spooky just seemed perfect for a quick corner to corner crochet banner!

New to Corner to Corner Crochet?
If you are new to the C2C method I highly recommend that you check out Jessica at Make and Do Crew’s How to Corner to Corner Crochet Tutorial! She does a wonderful job explaining the process.
Below I have included both the written pattern and a printable chart for this crochet banner. I prefer to follow the written instructions and just use the chart to check my progress. The chart helps me spot any mistakes if I make them.

Completing your Crochet Banner
Once I was finished with my crochet banner, I wanted to add a nice point to the end.
Using grey
Row 1: Slst to last grey dc on one side of the banner. Ch2, Work 3 dc into each Dc C2C square. (33)
Row 2: Ch2, turn. Dc2tog, 29 Dc, Dc2tog. (31)
Row 3: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog, 25 Dc ,Dc3tog. (27)
Row 4: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog, 21 Dc ,Dc3tog. (23)
Row 5: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog, 17 Dc ,Dc3tog. (19)
Row 6: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog, 13 Dc ,Dc3tog. (15)
Row 7: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog, 9 Dc ,Dc3tog. (11)
Row 8: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog, 5 Dc ,Dc3tog. (7)
Row 9: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog, 1 Dc ,Dc3tog. (3)
Row 10: Ch2, turn, Dc3tog. Fasten Off. (1)

Border
Take your yarn and Slst to the bottom of the first Dc in Row 1. Place 2 Sc in the side of each Dc row you just created. When you get to the point, Ch2 and continue working down the other side. Fasten off.
Using Orange.
Slst to the top of the orange C2C square on either side of the bottom of the banner. Working into he Sc row we just made (Dc, Dc, 2dc in the next stitch) Repeat from (to) until you reach the Ch2 space. 3dc in the Ch2 space and continue repeating (Dc, Dc, 2Dc in the next stitch) until the end of the row. Slst to the orange C2C square.
Single Crochet Border – This row is optional but really gives your banner a nice clean look.
Ch 1, work Sc into the top and sides of the C2C squares. I worked 3 sc into the top of the squares and 2 Sc into the side of the squares. (Squares alternate each row). When you reach the corners Ch1 and continue down the next side. When you make it all the way around, slst to the first Sc and fasten off.
Weave in al your ends or use my trick from my Flamingo wallhanging to skip weaving in ends.
I recommend blocking your banner before hanging it.
