Have your cupcake and a birthday gnome too. I couldn’t make a Holiday Gnome series without a birthday gnome. I hope he brings a smile to your birthday friend’s face.
Below you will find the complete pattern for this crochet Birthday gnome. You will also find all the materials, stitches, gauge, and sizing information. If you would like all of this in a nicely formatted printable format, you can purchase the Ad-Free Large Print PDF Pattern.
A Happy Birthday Gnome
Aren’t Birthdays wonderful? They are our personal holidays. I wanted to create a special crochet birthday gnome that would help you celebrate. Looking online all I saw was gnomes made with birthday fabric for their hat and that was not good enough.
I thought about the cute little gnomes that had mushroom top hats and started thinking about birthday cupcakes. A gnome with a cupcake hat seemed perfect.

How to Customize your Crochet Birthday Gnome
This crochet gnome pattern can be customized in a variety of ways. Instructions are provided for both the male and female gnome.
Change the body color, cupcake liner and top color, skin color, and hair color to make your gnome special. I like to use Red Heart Super Saver Aran(light tones), Buff(Medium tone), Cafe Latte(Dark tone), and Coffee(Very dark tone) for skin tones.
Make this gnome unique and special with your customization.

Purchase the Premium Ad-Free PDF Pattern
Below you will find the free pattern with all the instructional photos and videos needed to complete the pattern, but I am also aware that several of us like to crochet on the couch, in the car, or in bed with a print out of the pattern. This is why I also offer a nicely formatted ad-free large font PDF version of the pattern. You can print the pattern and take it on the go with you or tuck it into your project bag or basket.
I moved all the photos to the end of the PDF so you can reference them as you needed them and print just the pattern without using up as much ink. The Premium PDF version of the pattern can be purchased on Etsy or Ravelry.

Crochet Birthday Gnome Assembly Instructions
You can use a yarn needle and yarn to sew each piece together in the order listed below or you can hot glue the pieces together (this is what I did) if they are not going to be played with by kids.
1. Sew Feet to the body.
2. Place the beard on the front body with the crocheted row formed into a U shape. Sew to the body.
3. Sew the nose on top of the beard and style the beard.
4. Sew each arm to the side of the present and then sew the arms to the body.
5. Take the cupcake liner and sew it to the body of the gnome.
6. Stuff the body. Sew the cherry to the cupcake top and sew the cupcake top to the cupcake liner.
7. Enjoy your gnome.
I truly hope you enjoyed the crochet birthday gnome pattern and will check back for more fun crochet gnome patterns.
