Halloween Crochet Banners for Corner-to-Corner to Double Crochet

A few years ago I created the Halloween Corner to Corner Banner. It was a fun and cute project but not everyone likes to use the corner-to-corner crochet method. So this year I wanted to share a similar pattern but this time worked in double crochet.

A few Changes

I had originally planned for this pattern to be the same size as the original but it turned out a lot smaller. I decided to stick with the smaller size because it worked up so fast. It makes a wonderful little decoration to hang up at work or at home.

Feel free to get creative with the colors and if you are comfortable with graphing out a pattern, you could even change the words.

Notes:
-Written in US terms.
– I do not count my CH2, turning chain, as a stitch.
– Below you will find two patterns that use the same technique but have different patterns.
– The Halloween Crochet Banners are Copyrighted by Lindsey at Winding Road Crochet.
– These patterns will have a right and wrong side with the yarn being carried behind the stitches on the back of the work. (As seen in the photos.)
– The row stitch count is in the parenthesises at the end of each row for rows 1-8. The stitch count does not change after row 8.

BOO Crochet Banner

CH 3 with Purple.

Row 1: Work 2 DC into the 3rd CH from the hook. (2)

Row 2: CH2, turn, Work 2 DC into each of the next 2 STs. (4)

Row 3: CH2, turn, Work 2 DC into the first ST. DC into the next 2 STs, Work 3 DC into the last ST. (7)

Row 4: CH2, turn, Work 2 DC into the first ST. DC into the next 5 STs, Work 3 DC into the last ST. (10)

Row 5: CH2, turn, Work 2 DC into the first ST. DC into the next 8 STs, Work 3 DC into the last ST. (13)

Row 6: CH2, turn, Work 2 DC into the first ST. DC into the next 11 STs, Work 3 DC into the last ST. (16)

Row 7: CH2, turn, Work 2 DC into the first ST. DC into the next 14 STs, Work 3 DC into the last ST. (19)

Boo Banner Chart

Row 9: CH2, turn, DC in the next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 10 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 6 STs.

When working the odd rows, the right side of the work will be facing you. When you are working the even rows, the wrong side or the back of your work will be facing you. Carry your yarn on the backside of the work as you see in the photo below.

Rows 10-14: CH2, turn, DC in the next 4 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 4 STs.

Row 15: CH2, turn, DC in the next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 10 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 6 STs.

Rows 16-17: CH2, turn, DC in the next 22 STs.

Row 18: CH2, turn, DC in the next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 10 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 6 STs.

Rows 19-23: CH2, turn, DC in the next 4 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 4 STs.

Row 24: CH2, turn, DC in the next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 10 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 6 STs.

Rows 25-26: CH2, turn, DC in the next 22 STs.

Row 27: CH2, turn, DC in the next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 12 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 4 STs.

Rows 28-29: CH2, turn, DC in the next 4 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 4 STs.

Row 30: CH2, turn, DC in the next 4 STs, CC to White, DC in next 12 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 6 STs.

Rows 31-32: CH2, turn, DC in the next 4 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 4 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 4 STs.

Row 33: CH2, turn, DC in the next 6 STs, CC to White, DC in next 12 STs, CC to Purple, DC in last 4 STs.

Fasten off the White Yarn.

Rows 34-35: CH2, turn, DC in the next 22 STs.

Do not fasten off the purple yarn. We will continue to use the purple yarn to single crochet around the banner. Continue to Border row 1.

Border Row 1: CH 1, rotate the banner so you can crochet into the sides of row 1-35. Work 2 SC into the side of Rows 9-35. (Photo 1) Chain 1 at the point and then work 2 SC into the side of rows 1-8. (Photo 2) CH 2 at the bottom point (Photo 3), and work 2 SC into the other side of rows 1-8 (Photo 4), CH 1 at the other point and work 2 SC into the other side of rows 9-35. CH 1 at the top corner rotate your work to work into the top of row 35. Work 1 Sc into each ST of row 35. CH1, and SLST to the first SC of this row.

Change colors to green.

Border Row 2: CH 2, Do Not Turn, Work a DC into the next 54 Sts, Work 2 DC into the CH1 space, Work a DC in the next 16 Sts, (2DC, CH1, 2DC) into the CH2 space. Work a DC into the next 16 Sts, Work 2 DC into the CH 1 Space, Work a DC into the next 54 Sts, (2DC, CH1, 2DC) into the CH2 corner space, Work a DC into the next 22 Sts, (2DC, CH1, 2DC) into the CH2 corner space, SLST to the first DC of the row.

Fasten off and weave in your ends. The banner can be hung up by using the space between two double crochets.
