A Crochet Clutch for Me and a Purse for Her

This big bow handbag crochets up quick and easy. After making a beautiful purse for myself I just had to make a matching purse for my daughter. She calls her purse the ‘Minnie Purse’ and just loves it.

Yarn Substitutions

This crochet clutch purse is made from worsted weight acrylic yarn. That makes is a great stash busting pattern, but you can use any worsted weight yarn. Cotton works great, because it does not stretch.

Assembling the Crochet Clutch

First, take the purse base and lay it flat. Place the bow piece on top of the purse base right under the decrease rows. Next, use a running stitch to sew the sides of the two pieces together. The bow piece will be a little loose because it is wider than the base piece.

Now take the center of the bow piece and crimp it down. Use the center bow piece to wrap around the crimped area and sew the two ends of the center piece together. Once sewn together, weave in your ends and gently turn the center piece so that the seam is hidden.

Jazz up any outfit with this cute crochet clutch purse. This free crochet pattern and video tutorial will walk you through how to make it.

Next, fold the purse base back to that it is laying against itself, but still under the decrease rows. Use a whip stitch to sew the base layers together.

If you are careful you can sew just the base layers together and leave the bow layer alone. This way you will not have pink stitches on top of the white bow.

Once the sides are sewn. Fold down the point of the purse to determine where to place the button. Sew the button in place.

Last and optional, add the wristlet or long strap. For the wristlet strap, fold the strap in half and sew both ends on the inside of the purse.

For the long strap, sew an end to both sides of the purse on the inside of the purse. This way you can tuck the strap into the purse when you aren’t using it.

Now your Bow Crochet Clutch is complete and ready to be enjoyed. They work up fast and make a great gift.
