Double Ribbed Crochet Beanie
It is getting cold and those little boys tend to grow, so it is time to make a new daddy and me hat set. Of course, I think this hat would look wonderful on the ladies too!
The horizontal ribbed texture adds interest to this crochet hat without being too decorative. It is just a great simple accessory.
Yarn Types and Substitutions
Feel free to hunt through your yarn stash! This pattern uses a #4 weight/medium yarn. I chose to use Red Heart Super Saver and Red Heart With Love but any worsted weight yarn should work. Just make sure to check your gauge.
The Premium Ad-Free PDF Pattern
Below you will find the free pattern with all the instructional photos and videos needed to complete the pattern, but I am also aware that several of us like to crochet on the couch, in the car, or in bed with a printout of the pattern. This is why I also offer a nicely formatted large font PDF version of the pattern that can be purchased on Etsy or Ravelry. You can print the pattern and take it on the go with you or tuck it into your project bag.

Special Stitches
HDC in Front Middle Bar (or Third Loop)– When you create a half-double crochet, the stitch has a middle bar. If you are working all in one direction this may be referred to as the third loop and will be located on the back of the stitch. This pattern is worked in joined rounds and is turned at the end of every row. This places the third loop on the front of the stitch. When this occurs it can be referred to as the Front Middle Bar. This is how it will be referred to for this pattern.
