Crochet Painting Crochet A Long

January is finally here and that means it is time for another Crochet A Long! This year I wanted to create something both easy and unique. Follow along with this Crochet A Long to learn how to create a Crochet Painting!

You may call it a Crochet Painting, Crochet Art or a Crochet Tapestry. I am not sure there is an official term for this type of project. Though many pieces of crochet art are made with free form crochet, I have created a version that uses basic stitches and a simple process to create a masterpiece.

Crochet Hooded Cowl: A Pattern for Beginners

It is that moment that you are sitting at the bus stop, your son is wearing his brand new coat and is still cold because it does not have a hood. I should have bought a coat with a hood. It doesn’t matter if the coat is a super cute grey and red plaid. There is just no hood. Well, that is when this crafty mom crochets up the beginner’s crochet hooded cowl.

Yes, I am that mom, who overlooked a simple detail when buying clothes. When the bus comes at 7:30 am, I am just happy to have the kids out of bed, dressed and lunches in their bags. Now with the cold weather, I have to think about gloves, hats, and scarves. With a 6-year-old, simpler is better, so a hooded cowl plays both hat and scarf. It just helps me have one less piece to have to grab.

Crochet Snowman Couple Amigurumi Pattern

-Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the row you are working on. -Pattern is worked in continuous rounds.

Oh, I am just a fan of a homemade holiday and I am also of a fan of decorating for the season. This little Crochet Snowman Couple will be sitting on our mantle all winter. They do have a little bit of a Christmas vibe, but not enough to put them away on December 26th.

A Crochet Snowman Couple

This little snowman couple set was inspired by a vintage holiday card. I just love the look of the “button nose, and two eyes made out of coal,” instead of the traditional carrot nose. Plus the extra accessories that make them distinctly a snowman and snowlady just add a final pizzazz to these characters.

I know embroidering onto amigurumi can be intimidating, but do not worry. I use a simple french knot to make the eyes and now. Watch out for a video tutorial on this technique.

Mini Advent Calendar Crochet Pattern

Advent Calendars are so much fun during the holidays and I just love the Crocheted Advent Calendar pattern. This large tree is so much fun for the kids. But when I created this calendar, I came across two problems. First, there were so many ways to use the calendar, I couldn’t just pick one. Second, I knew some people would run out of time to make this calendar, so I designed the Crochet Mini Advent Calendar.

Why a Mini Advent Calendar?

I love the large version of this Calendar, but after some serious consideration, I decided we would be stuffing it with the holiday tradition cards to make sure we make the most of the holiday. That left me with a set of 24 mini ornaments without a home. That is when the idea occurred that I could create a second calendar just for hanging an ornament each day.
