The Dinosaur crochet basket is the perfect place to stuff all those stuffed animals or store all the toys that have million little pieces. It is a huge basket that will make cleaning up the kids’ room a breeze.
Welcome to Winding Road Crochet. Here we like to share free crochet patterns for everyone in your family. Below you will find the written pattern, materials list, special stitch instructions for the dinosaur crochet basket. I have even included a video tutorial showing how to crochet the tapestry stitch, change colors and carry your yarn. The Dinosaur Basket Set Inspiration
My son tends to have a hard time keeping his room clean. It tends to stay cleaner when we keep everything in ‘toy buckets’. After the holidays there just weren’t enough toy buckets for all the new items. So we whipped up some dinosaur-themed crochet baskets to match his room and keep it clean.
These baskets are great for everything. They can store stuffed animals, and legos and even help the little ones collect their clothes for laundry. You can whip up the set to give to a mother-to-be for a dinosaur-themed baby shower gift.
How to Make a Dinosaur Basket
To make this basket, we will start by making a simple flat circle. We will work in continuous rounds for the entire project. Make sure to have a stitch marker on hand.
Once the base is completed, we will use the tapestry crochet stitch to create single crochet stitches that sit on top of each other like a grid. Using the written pattern below, or the printable chart, you will change colors to work the dinosaur design into the pattern.
Don’t Miss a Single Pattern
If you love to crochet and you don’t want to miss a single free pattern, make sure to sign up for the newsletter! I will send you a quick email a couple of times a week to let you know what is new. Plus you get access to a variety of crochet related printables.
Purchase the Premium Ad-Free PDF Pattern (Completely Optional)
Below you will find the free pattern with all the instructional photos and videos needed to complete the pattern. I know several of us like to crochet on the couch, in the car, or in bed with a print out of the pattern. This is why I also offer a nicely formatted ad-free large font PDF version of the pattern. You can print the pattern and take it on the go or tuck it into your project bag.
I moved all the photos to the end of the PDF so you can reference them as you needed them. This way you can print just the pattern without using up as much ink. The Premium PDF version of the pattern can be purchased here.

Tapestry Single Crochet – Insert your hook into the Back Loop Only of the next Stitch. Yarn over and pull the loop through the stitch. Yarn Under and pull the first loop on the hook through the second and third loops on the hook. Your tapestry single crochet is complete.
