Crochet Produce Bag – A Step Towards less Waste

Plastic takes a really long time to breakdown and it can be harmful to animals. So instead of using plastic produce bags, consider using reusable produce bags. These crochet produce bags can be made using any of the basic crochet stitches and be made to any size. Below you will find 3 patterns all using a different crochet stitch and notes on how to adjust the size.

Green bottom bag uses single crochet, teal bottom bag uses double crochet and pink bottom bag uses half double crochet.

Be Green and Have some Crochet Fun

As crocheters there are a lot of ways for us to be ‘green’. One of those ways is to simple make things instead of buying them. Making usable items instead of using disposable items are a great way to be friendly to the planet. I also believe that the items we crochet are a higher quality than what we buy and will last longer. This also creates less waste in the long run.

The Premium Ad-Free PDF Pattern

Below you will find the free pattern with all the instructional photos and videos needed to complete the pattern, but I am also aware that several of us like to crochet on the couch, in the car, or in bed with a printout of the pattern. This is why I also offer a nicely formatted large font PDF version of the pattern that can be purchased on Etsy or Ravelry. You can print the pattern and take it on the go with you or tuck it into your project bag.

Quick Crochet Produce Bag

Notes for all Patterns:
-Written in US terms.
– I do not count my CH1 (or CH2), turning chain, as a stitch.
– We will be working in joined rounds and turning at the end of each round.
– All three patterns are very similar. The difference is the main stitch used and the number of rows worked.
– Instruction photos are included in the first pattern but are relevant to all patterns.
– You can make these bags as tall as you like just by working more rows of mesh.
– You can make these bags wider or narrower. Just work any odd number of chains for the small and medium mesh bag and any even number of chains for the large mesh bag.
