Crochet Gnome Beard (Male Gnome)
CH12 with White
Row 1: SC in the 2nd CH from hook and each CH across. Fasten off. (11)
Cut 21 eight-inch strands of yarn for the beard. Group three strands together and attach them to the 7 center single crochet like you would add fringe to a scarf. (See Photo Below)
Before stuffing your gnome, sew your beard on to you gnome in a U shape. Make sure to leave room for the nose and keep the ends close to the edge of the top of the body to be able to hide them with the hat.
If you choose, braid your beard and secure with a small piece of yarn.
Give your beard a little trim to shape and lightly mist it with some water, style the beard and let it dry that way to hold that shape.
If you wish, you can untwist the yarn in the beard to have more hair-like strands.
Menora
To get started take your paint and toothpicks and paint 9 toothpicks white. These will be your candles.
Make 2 sides of your Menora.
CH10
Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from the hook. SC in each ST across.(9)
Row 2: CH1, turn, SC2TOG, SC in next 5 STs, SC2TOG. (7)
Row 3: CH1, turn, SC2TOG, SC in next 3 STs, SC2TOG. (5)
Row 4-5: CH1, turn, SC in next 5 STs. (5)
Fasten off. Leave a long yarn tail for sewing.
Raised Candle
Go to the opposite side of your starting chain. We will work the next part all into one stitch.
SLST to the center ST, CH1, SC into the same ST, CH1, SLST to the same ST. Fasten off and weave in your ends.
After making two menora pieces and having your toothpick painted you can assemble your candle holder.
First you will trim your toothpicks so they fit between the two crocheted pieces without sticking out. Use hot glue to secure the toothpicks to one side of the candle holder.
Then use a little more hot glue to secure the second crocheted piece on top of the first. If you would like you can leave the pieces as is or use the yarn ends to whip stitch around the edge of the menora.
Crochet Hanukkah Gnome Assembly Instructions
You can use a yarn needle and yarn to sew each piece together in the order listed below or you can hot glue the pieces together (this is what I did) if they are not going to be played with by kids.
1. Stuff and Sew Feet to the front of the gnome.
2. Sew the beard onto the gnome. The beard will have the crocheted row shaped like a U. Style the beard and trim it. Sew nose on top of the beard.
3. Sew arms to the Menora and then sew the arms onto the gnome.
4. Stuff the hat and sew the hat onto the body.
5. Enjoy your gnome!
I truly hope you enjoyed the crochet Hanukkah gnome pattern and will check back for more fun crochet gnome patterns.
