The Crochet Ballerina Gnome is a great little gnome addition to your collection. She (or he) also makes a wonderful gift. There are also instructions on how to make a male Ballet gnome.
Below you will find the complete pattern and instructional photos for this Crochet Ballet Gnome pattern. You will also find all the materials, stitches, gauges, and sizing information.

Crochet Ballerina Gnome Ready to Dance
This Ballet gnome was so fun to design. It fits in just nicely with all the other hobbies and sports gnomes. You can check out other sports gnomes on the free gnomes patterns page.

How to Customize your Crochet Ballet Gnome
This is your ballerina gnome so make her (or him) unique. Change the colors of her outfit. You can change her skin tone too and change the color of her hair. There are also instructions below to make a beard for a male gnome.
I like to use the Red Heart Super Saver colors Aran for fair skin, buff for medium skin tones, cafe latte for dark skin tones, and coffee for very dark skin tones.

The Premium Printable PDF Pattern (Coming Soon)
Below you will find the free crochet fishing gnome pattern with all the instructional photos and videos needed to complete the pattern, but I am also aware that several of us like to crochet on the couch, in the car, or in bed with a printout of the pattern. This is why I also offer a nicely formatted large font PDF version of the pattern that can be purchased on Etsy or Ravelry. You can print the pattern and take it on the go with you or tuck it into your project bag.

Crochet Ballerina Gnome
Notes:
– The pattern will be worked in a continuous round.
– The pattern is in US terms.
– Use a stitch marker to keep track of your rows.
– The main difference between the male and female gnome is that the male gnome has a beard and the female gnome has pigtails. It is up to you if you want to put a tutu on your male gnome. I personally think it would be very cute.

Row 2-3: SC in the next 6 STs. (6)
Fasten off leaving a 10 inch tail to sew the nose to the body.

Ponytails (Make 2) (For Female Gnome)
CH7 with any hair color.
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd CH from hook and each CH across. Fasten off. (6)
Cut 12 10 inch strands of gold yarn for the two braids. Attach one strand of yarn to each Single Crochet like you would attach fringe to a scarf. Use a few more strands of yarn to make a tie at the top and bottom of the hair strands as seen in the photo. Sew the ponytails onto the body of the gnome before stuffing the gnome.

Crochet Gnome Beard (Male Gnome)
CH12 with Coffee (Dark Brown).
Row 1: SC in the 2nd CH from hook and each CH across. Fasten off. (11)
Cut 21 eight-inch strands of yarn for the beard. Group three strands together and attach them to the 7 center single crochet like you would add fringe to a scarf. (See Photo Above)
Before stuffing your gnome, sew your beard onto your gnome in a U shape. Make sure to leave room for the nose and keep the ends close to the edge of the top of the body to be able to hide them with the hat.
If you choose, braid your beard and secure it with a small piece of yarn.
Give your beard a little trim to shape and lightly mist it with some water, style the beard and let it dry that way to hold that shape.
If you wish, you can untwist the yarn in the beard to have more hair-like strands.

Crochet Ballerina Gnome Assembly Instructions
You can use a yarn needle and yarn to sew each piece together in the order listed below or you can hot glue the pieces together (this is what I did) if they are not going to be played with by kids.
1. For girl gnome: Stuff gnome body. Place the tutu on the gnome’s body and sew it in place. Sew the feet on the front of the gnome. (Leave off the tutu for a male gnome unless you want him to have tutu.)
2. For girl gnome: Sew the nose in the center of the gnome and sew the braids on each side of the nose. For Male Gnome: Sew the beard onto the gnome. The beard will have the crocheted row shaped like a U. Style the beard and trim it. Sew the nose on top of the beard.
3. Sew both gnome arms onto the gnome.
4. Sew the ballet slipper applique onto the hat and embroider on the laces. Lightly stuff the hat and sew the hat onto the body.
5. Enjoy your gnome!
