The Colosseum Stitch?

This is not an official crochet stitch but a stitch pattern or stitch combination that I created and named. I thought the gaps looked like the arches of the Roman Colosseum.

The Colosseum stitch uses the chain, single crochet, and double crochet to create a sturdy mesh stitch.

What to use it for?

Projects that would look lovely with this crochet stitch include:

– Bags
– Swimming Suit Cover Ups
– Spring Scarves
– Shawls

Consider adding 2-4 rows of the colosseum stitch into a blanket design to make a lighter, airer crochet blanket.
