Beginner Crochet Coffee Cozy Pattern

This crochet coffee cozy pattern is perfect for beginner crocheters. We will simply be crocheting a rectangle and sewing it into a tube to create a coffee cozy. Cozies like these make wonderful gifts and stocking stuffers.

Below you will find the complete pattern and instructional photos for this crochet coffee cozy pattern. You will also find all the materials, stitches, gauge, and sizing information. To make this pattern easier for beginners, I have written the pattern with and without abbreviations.

The Beginner-Friendly Crochet Coffee Cozy

While working on my “How to Crochet” series, I wanted to provide several beginner-friendly patterns to help new crocheters practice. Plus, I wanted to show beginners how many items they could make with just crocheted squares and rectangles.

What I didn’t expect was how much I, as an advanced crocheter, enjoyed working these simple patterns. They were relaxing and had a beautiful minimalist look. They are also a wonderful way to showcase beautiful yarns.

Beginner Crochet Coffee Cozy Pattern

Notes:
-Written in US terms.
-This is the abbreviated version of the pattern.

CH 35

Row 1: SC into the 2nd CH from hook, SC in next 33 CH. (34SC)

Row 2 – 12: CH1, turn, SC in each ST across. (34 SC)

At the end of Row 12 Fasten off leaving a 10-inch tail. Fold your crochet coffee cozy in half and use the yarn tail to whip stitch the ends together. Weave in your end and your coffee cozy is complete.

Non-Abbreviated Crochet Coffee Cozy Pattern

Since this is a beginner pattern, I thought I would write a non-abbreviated pattern for anyone who is still learning to read patterns.

To Start:
Make a slipknot and place the yarn on your hook. Chain 35 chains. Turn your work.

Row 1: Work a Single Crochet into the second Chain from the hook. Now, work a single crochet into each of the next 33 chains. You will end the row with 34 single crochet.

Row 2: To start your next row, chain once and flip over your project so you can work into the stitches of the last row worked. Work 1 single crochet into each stitch of the last row. You will end the row with 34 single crochet.

Continue repeating row 2 until you have a total of 12 rows.

At the end of Row 12 Fasten off leaving a 10 inch tail. Fold your crochet coffee cozy in half and use the yarn tail to whip stitch the the ends together. Weave in your end and you coffee cozy is complete.
