It is the end of the year and this Crochet New Year’s Gnome is ready to celebrate with you. He is all dressed up for the occasion.
Below you will find the complete pattern and instructional photos for this New Year’s Gnome pattern. You will also find all the materials, stitches, gauge, and sizing information.
A Dapper New Year’s Gnome
This gnome is all dressed up, and look similar to the Patriotic Gnome we made in July. The little top hat and bowtie are just charming on this little guy. If you can find a little wine glass, put it in his hand to complete the look.
How to Customize your New Year’s Gnome
This crochet gnome pattern can be customized in a variety of ways. First you can make a male or female gnome. Instructions are provided below for both.
Change the body color, hat color, shirt color, pants color, skin color, and hair color to make your gnome special. I like to use Red Heart Super Saver Aran(light tones), Buff(Medium tone), Cafe Latte(Dark tone), and Coffee(Very dark tone) for skin tones.
Make this gnome unique and special with your customization. When you are all done, consider sharing him on social media and tag me @windingroadcrochet so I can see it.

The Premium Ad-Free PDF Pattern
Below you will find the free pattern with all the instructional photos and videos needed to complete the pattern, but I am also aware that several of us like to crochet on the couch, in the car, or in bed with a print out of the pattern. You can print the pattern and take it on the go with you or tuck it into your project bag or basket.

Before stuffing your gnome, sew your beard on to you gnome in a U shape. Make sure to leave room for the nose and keep the ends close to the edge of the top of the body to be able to hide them with the hat.
If you choose, braid your beard and secure with a small piece of yarn.
Give your beard a little trim to shape and lightly mist it with some water, style the beard and let it dry that way to hold that shape.
If you wish, you can untwist the yarn in the beard to have more hair-like strands.

When you are done, take a toothpick and cut off one pointed end. Cut out a piece of paper about 1.5 inches by 0.5 inches. Write the year on one half of the paper. Fold the paper in half and glue it around the cutoff side of the toothpick. Stick the pointed side of the toothpick into the hat and glue it in place.
Crochet New Year’s Gnome Assembly Instructions
You can use a yarn needle and yarn to sew each piece together in the order listed below or you can hot glue the pieces together (this is what I did) if they are not going to be played with by kids.
1. Stuff the gnome body.
2. Stuff and sew the feet onto the gnome body.
3. Sew the beard onto the gnome. The beard will have the crocheted row shaped like a U. Style the beard and trim it.
4. Sew the nose on top of the gnome beard.
5. Loosely sew bow tie on top of the beard.
6. Sew arms to gnome body.
7. Stuff the gnome hat and sew it to the gnome body.
8. Enjoy your gnome!
I truly hope you enjoyed the crochet New Year’s Gnome pattern and will check back for more fun crochet gnome patterns.
