Oh, I am so happy we have made it to part 2 of our Crochet Painting Crochet A Long. In this part, we will be making the vases or the plant pots of our paintings. I will provide you the patterns below for the exact appliques that I have on my painting, but I have also created a video tutorial to teach you the technique that will allow you to make your own single crochet applique.

What is a Single Crochet Applique?

There are several ways to make an applique but one very easy method is to just us single crochet. A single crochet applique is worked in rows and includes increases and decreases in the first and last stitch only to manipulate its shape.

Woohoo! Week one of our crochet-along and I hope you have your yarn and hooks ready. Don’t worry this is actually a really easy part of the overall pattern. We are making the crocheted background this week.

To complete the crocheted background all you will need to know is how to chain, single crochet, and change colors. It is really that easy. Even if you will be crocheting from a graph for the cactus painting, it still only requires those few skills.
