Crochet Snowman Couple Amigurumi Pattern

Oh, I am just a fan of a homemade holiday and I am also of a fan of decorating for the season. This little Crochet Snowman Couple will be sitting on our mantle all winter. They do have a little bit of a Christmas vibe, but not enough to put them away on December 26th.

A Crochet Snowman Couple

This little snowman couple set was inspired by a vintage holiday card. I just love the look of the “button nose, and two eyes made out of coal,” instead of the traditional carrot nose. Plus the extra accessories that make them distinctly a snowman and snowlady just add a final pizzazz to these characters.

I know embroidering onto amigurumi can be intimidating, but do not worry. I use a simple french knot to make the eyes and now. Watch out for a video tutorial on this technique.

-Use a stitch marker to mark the first stitch of the row you are working on. -Pattern is worked in continuous rounds.

This pattern starts with my basic amigurumi critter pattern that I have used for the Black Halloween Cat and the Pretty Little Ghost. Then we get creative and add all the snowy details we need to give this happy couple character.

    • For rows 8 through 14 you will simply single crochet in each stitch around (that is 42 stitches per row.)

So far we have been increasing every round to create a circle, now we will make the head by working even rows without any increases.

    • Fir the cape instead of turning as you have done in rows 1 to 7, you crochet down the sides of the rows and across the 7 stitches that were left on row 3

  1. Hi. It only goes up to row 11 in the pattern for the cape. I’m confused. I don’t know where the 42 stitches comes from. Thanks

    • Hi, I am a bit confused too. The cape only needs 11 rows. Where do you see the number 42 for stitches? I am looking at the stitch count and it ranges between 12 (row 1) and 25 sts (rows 3-6). I don’t see anything that says 42 sts.

  2. I’m not sure if something is missing but when completing everything for the snow cape, it is no where near what it is supposed to look like. Not enough rows written.

    • I have counted and recounted the rows on my sample. All the rows are included in the pattern. Can you explain to me what doesn’t look right? There should be 7 rows completed for the hood of the cape then 3 rows worked to add length to the cape. All rows are double crochet except for the row that stands up at the top.

  3. Hi Lindsay
I am also having problems with the cape. I am really confused with row 8.
Also I know this is worked in rounds, do I join every round with a slip stitch?
    * Please can you send the reply to my email as well.
    Thanks, much appreciated.

    • Hi, rows 1 and 2 are working in the round. Rows 3-7 are not worked in the round and will not have you join with a slip stitch. This gives us a side to those rows which we will work into when you work row 8.

If you join rows 3-7 then row 8 will not make any sense.
